The Driven Snow: When all the world is swirling in falling white, A hush appears upon the land, The mountain winds are the only voice, The speech that carries is the rise by inches, The power gains momentum, Unseen moisture rises steaming, Dances with the freight train of pure arctic cold, And the world is covered in a blanket of purity, Leavened with just and peaceful respite. This is the moment the eyes find stark yet beautiful, Still verdant Spring will come. All one needs is unbending faith, Which is easy because you know, The cleansing power of the snow, And all the mighty struggle of your steps, They lead not to death and darkness in the cold, Nay the silence yields to nature's perfect miracle, The birth of everything new... Dennis Kucinich is Winter's Child. AquarianM By: Daniel A. Stafford (C) 02/05/2004 Author's Comments: Because for the first time in my life, I believe. www.kucinich.us

I like the feeling of awakening and renewal portrayed here.

"Elle, thank you - I'm still finding myself surprised at supporting anyone in politics - but I honestly believe in this.

Hey, it was a great poem, it even evoked images of the song by Bette Midler, "The Rose", with its message of spring aborning beneath the oppressive, stark white beauty. But then you brought in a politician, and the magic vanished for me.

Unfortunately most politicians have brought that rap on the whole lot, but Ken, I really think this guy is different or I'd never have gone there. I'd advise at least taking a look. I appreciate both your commentary and candor - but things have gone so bad in the last three years and along comes what I believe to be real hope for the working class - how could I stay silent?
