Cinquains are five-line poems with a syllable count of 2-4-6-8-2. You can also string together a bunch of cinquains to create a poem. Here is an example of each. No Words (copyright 8/26/02 by Miranda Rae) No words, No poetry Comes flowing from my pen. Paper glares mockingly at me, Empty. No Chance (copyright 1/5/01 by Miranda Rae) Two words Dash all my hopes Destroy a life-long wish Paint me as blind girl forever No chance No chance For miracles For healing wonder drugs For fancy high-tech surgeries Never Never Will I drive cars Will I pilot a plane Will I be like everyone else Never YOUR CHALLENGE FOR THIS WEEK: Write a poem consisting of a single cinquain and/or a poem made up of a string of cinquains. Please post your writings as new threads in this forum and feel free to comment on other's works. I can't wait to see what you come up with!
