Longing
The longing that I feel Impossible for words An ache within my heart A hole within my soul
To know the highest mountain Then come crashing back to earth Like getting a glimpse of heaven Now the glimpse more like a curse
When you come together so much more than you were before so when you’re torn apart a part of you is lost with her

.... sad and hopeful, too...because it is grasps the unbelieveable power of loving someone... and how much more two can be working as one. And the loss of that so vivid. Hurting for you, wishing I had some profound thing to say that could take any of that hurt away. But, I don't...instead, I will tell you what I tell myself. Writing it is at least a release of frustration, a way you can say all that you didn't or don't say.... Maybe give a copy to the subject herself? Sending Hugs & Prayers your way, Poet.

Yeah, it's like when we are in love with someone, the brain creates pathways to pleasure that make us feel so good. These pathways to pleasure are unique, they are learned and used only in association with this particular lover.
Then when the lover is gone, these pathways no longer get the "jolt" they need to stay alive, and the withdrawal pains hurt just as bad as any chemical dependency (so I imagine, hah hah!)
The pathways scream for reinforcement, and the pain we feel as they scar over and lapse into memories comes through as sadness, a mental health injury. I guess they call it the blues.
I'm doing the armchair psychiatrist thing, bear with me.
The good thing is that time will heal this pain, or at least the pain will mutate into a mellow-reflective memory with faint and fading flashbacks of pleasure. Then you're ready to climb onto that horse one more time, take a chance the ride will last and you won't get thrown off and bruised again.
Ain't love wonderful!
Ken

I love your insightfulness, Ken. I really think you are so right about pathways and stimulations associated with one particular person- I had never thought of this in quite that way.... and it has sparked some thinking on my part in reference to my own self, as well. Hope you are journaling your way through this, POS. bright blessings to you both!
