riptide rush:
I sit along the shoreline of the ocean, dig my toes into the sand and remember what it was that brought me to this place. It was to forget about you mostly, to let the rolling waves lull my mind, and stop all the questions, all the what ifs. the ocean looks beautiful, as if a thousand diamonds were strewn across a big blue blanket. I sit in awe until the tide brings me back to the realities I don't want to face. -I miss you- the tide tugs at my ankles, at my heart. the waves keep on crashing closer to my feet, closer to my heart still. they try to wrestle me back into the ocean of you and I. I want to resist but can't. it is so easy to surrender to the current, and easier still to surrender to your beautiful blue riptide eyes... I can't hold out any longer. watch as the waves of my heart trek to my eyes, as tears flow freely now, a sign of surrender, a big white flag waving in the ocean's breeze. I'm giving up and giving in, to the pull of the current, to the tug of the tide, where salt water meets salt water blinded by the ruthless tide of our love, lost and found.

I love it Solace!! It's so hard to control the tidal wave of love... sometimes we don't choose who to love or when.. it just happens... and how DO you back away from something that strong?
I find I'm able to shut things out during the day.. but at night.. WHOOSH.. everything is there.
This REALLY said it well.... how we can think we've escaped for a moment.. only to be drawn back in.. hmmm... I guess what I'm trying to say is.. I LIKE it!!

First, the title draws you in. The poem keeps you there. In your place, feeling it all with you. You have done it again, Solace, my dear... I adore your expressions. Heartfelt and beautifully executed, they convey who you are... to us- your readers. Thanks for sharing with us.

this is beautiful and i seldomly read a poem that expresses the situation after having parted wiht a loved one more vividly and honestly; the fight between logic telling you to let og and look to the horizon of new days to come and the heart that always pulls you back where the memories linger. also i love the ocean imagery...i canĀ“t think of a better metaphor for feelings than the ocean, or water in general... how the waves never stop rushing onto the beach for example like a wounded heart that can send sadness through our body for such a long time
