What do you all consider to be the benefits of belonging to a writers' group like Mystic Muse? Are you inspired by the other writers here? Does it help to keep you focused? Does the exposure, knowing you have a place to share your work with other serious writers help in your writings?

I like the atmosphere here. There is no pressure to perform, no ego clashes, and it's small enough so I feel I know most of the folks who post.

Exactly, Ken. The atmosphere, encouragement - plus the challenges and add-ons. These are fun exercises and are a benefit to any writer. Got to keep those synapses firing!
I'm glad you mentioned the lack of ego in the members, too. It's tough putting your heart into something and then sending it out into the cold, cruel world. The folks in here are encouraging and when they offer constructive criticism, it's done with understanding and kindness.
Someone once said that people who pride themselves on being brutally honest are usually more interested in the brutality than the honesty. There's none of that here.
