Dream Crusher…
It starts like an insidious snake,
Whispering in the ears of small children,
“Growsss upppsss….”
Imagination slowly dies,
What could have lead to bigger and brighter dreams,
Screaming silently into the depths,
Subconscious coal field dark,
The only thing allowed – accepted – encouraged,
This “American Dream” – someone else’s dream,
What percolates up through heavy crude out of dark depths,
Status quo is everything,
Only a few blazing champions refuse the spell,
But if even one gets through…
Burn, Dream Crusher, burn!
