She Sees Them
She dreams in screams and scenes
of serious children,
wills herself in ghosted form
to their windows,
spoon-feeds them sugar
to counter-act
venom -stifling-development.
She sees them,
in passing cars
and corner ice-cream stands,
with strange- but-familiar men.
Flashbacks in broken sequences
of brain-freezing bribes
choked down
through gurgling tears
lodged in throat;
for years they remained,
no place for them
in waffle-coned-bubble-gum-flavors
she was expected to put forth.
When she goes to them,
she leaves poems
under pillows of souls,
prophecies of their future wisdom---
epiphanies flow in waterfalls
on her island, too.

this has a lot of impact elle...a strong piece...
but i find it quiet difficult to express more of what it makes me think and feel now...it´s a topic i tend to schrink back from commenting on...it´s something that makes you angry and sad that such things happen...

Yes.... angry and sad... but hopeful, too.... the last lines are to say that all we go through is not lost... isnot in vain... it has purpose, even if just the wisdom and lessons of it. Thank you for reading, Daemona... and for understanding from whence this came.

They are all our children ... even if we can do nothing for them, they remind us to love and respect the children of any age we encounter, in our families and out in the world.

Just a little room for hope, just a little. This poem definitely sucks all the light out of the room.

I wrote this a few years ago, an acknowledgement of sorts that I am hyper-sensitive to these children, what they have gone through, what they may still be going through and to offer something from my own experience to them... thanx for reading, everyone.
