Blood Moon
I knew enough to be afraid, respect for a vision. In skies of jade, it came to be fruition.
Lying low in midnight’s horizon, there, ‘neath dreams haze was the blood moon never rising to light the end of days.
All of night’s from here to there draped in veils of scarlet. All those who know to believe know why it has been sent.
We cannot escape what is done, our hands are unclean. I will not deny, will not run, our hearts will never be clean.
Blood is the ink of our graffiti, air- brushed over foreign lands, cannot sit passively, these transgressions on my hands.
Blood moon hangs in disgrace, for all of the unenlightened. Radiant energy turns from face, all of senses heightened.

Very smooth...reads like a song, both lyrically and in technicalities. Great, Elle!

These are song lyrics!!!! Done in minor chords for the spooky doomy effect with some snaky slide guitar (a la Robby Krieger from the Doors) over the top. I can hear it!
This reminded me of the Demi Moore movie "The Seventh Sign". Have you ever seen it?

shwew.. It wasn't my intention to offend anyone with this, just to get some things out that have been rolling around up there. Besides.. did you guys see that moon last night? INCREDIBLE! I had an hour drive from practicing with my Dad and it was almost 2 am... I had that moon in my sight for an hour... it was breathtaking and scary at the same time. I'm so relieved that we can speak our minds and whatever is on them and even disagree and still all be Okay with that. That, my dear friends, is very cool. This isn't just about current affairs, but the whole picture in general... just scary times we are living in right now. Thank you for reading and appreciating the poetics of this. Manders- I have seen the 7th sign- GREAT flick. That's an older one, I may have to go rent it one of these nights again. I saw it in the theater years ago... I am interested in prophecy, end of times, etc. A definite fuel for many of my poems! Thank you both for reading, and also to let you know we are working on chords for this now. I'll get it out to you when we come up with the vibe!

OH MY GOD....... this was awesome..... but then it was written by what I consider one of the worlds greatest poetess ever.......
the images made my mind race....... my brother could be involved in some of this mess that we are in at the moment....... a Marine..... and that really makes me look at things different than most I think......
as always it was a great read and like RamirezGhost said it was like a song....... and of course it would have to be dark and heavy with bar cords maybe.......

Much strength and spirit to your bro, Hawk. I admire that so much. The word bravery just doesn't do service justice. Thank you for reading, I appreciate everyone's open mind and great feedback. Hope it at least puts some thought out there.

Rachelle, this suits the mood and feel of these times, the loss of compassion in favor of capital, the loss of privacy and civil rights, the vile insistence on environmentally damaging technologies due to greed. Well expressed/

Thanks so much for coming & also for checking this out, Dan. Have missed this kind of a forum/outlet.... have missed many awesome friends met along the way here, that definately includes You! This piece means even more to me when put in the context of my current situation... getting ready to bring a child into this crazy world is scarier to me than myself living through it. I was worrying today after the reports of our former CIA director Woolsley coming out and saying that this is the 4th world war, how thin our troops are that we are now sending novice service men and women to Iraq into a war that will last longer than any in our history... My concern is that they may reinstate the draft... my oldest son is 11-- uncertain times we live in. Anyway, thanks again for your input- I always appreciate hearing your thoughts.

Rachelle, I know what you mean. I have one child, a son, 13. That's what happens when sheer under the table economics is what drives our policy decisions. Too bad there's not more intelligent life showing up at the planet called "Voting Booth".
Good to be back. Summer is winding down, so the live venues are on their last hurrah, and I have been very active on that front this year.
