Here's a picture taken down the street from my home: The tree has been pruned and sculpted to make room for the wires, yet is still IMHO beautiful nonethe less. Ken

This is what happens to fickle river nymphs, who tease the lonely traveller with their innocence and beauty, yet run and hide when the traveller attempts to get closer. Taken from my canoe on the Nashwaak River, October 11, 2007. Ken

I love that first tree... it stands so tall and I love how the color bursts on top!! I also enjoy your explanation of the trees by the river... it sounds like a faerie tale story and they DO look nymph or faerie like!!!
My 3 yr. old & I went out hiking this morning.. OMG, it was freezing cold! With the crazy weather, I'll bet you have gotten more time in canoeing and outdoors. Is it you that also goes ice fishing? I love your photos, Ken. Keep 'em coming, they really brighten my days. I'm waiting for you to put out a calendar with photos & poems!

Yeah Elle, I have been out in the warm weather a lot, I'm very fortunate. It hasn't been cold here yet in New Brunswick, tomorrow it's going to be 65 F, glorious for October. Indian summer!
But I don't do ice fishing. I'm looking forward to cross-country skiing, there's usually enough snow by January to get out, until March or so. I suppose you don't get much snow where you live.

We DO get snow, sometimes a whole lot of it...lol! Usually right around Christmas we get our first big snow. But I don't know, the way things are going with the weather... it has been one strange October, extremes... cold and then 80 degrees! Friday was chilly 45 degrees or so and then Saturday & Sunday closer to 80! Crazy weather. We've all got colds, go figure!

Here's a shot I took two weeks ago in Indian summer, before the wind blew away most of our leaves. This is close to my house. Ken

This is near my house in Fredericton, New Brunswick. The dark blue water by the shore comes from the forested Nashwaak valley. The brown water midstream carries the topsoil from the potato fields farther up the Saint John River. The third river is the stream of clouds rushing in the autumn wind. Together, they lay a deep bed of driftwood on the shore. Upstream, the walking bridge spans the Saint John River. Ken
