Many ancient prophecies from various cultures believe in a prophecy that states that Dec. 12, 2012 will be the end of the world as we know it. Some say it will happen that the earth will tilt on it's axis, others say an asteroid will hit, some claim nuclear war will erupt, but many have the same date: 12-21-2012. Do you believe this?

I fear that there may be a global catastrophe in the not-so-distant future, given the gap between rich and poor, over-crowding and the strain on the earth's ecology. It might be war, famine, extreme weather, or a combination of these. But I don't think it will happen on any certain date when the numbers line up a certain way.
Why would a space rock care about our calendar when it's on a collision course?
Then, some say the date the Towers were destroyed was chosen for its numerical significance. So you may have something there, Elle.

It is a fascinating subject to me. I have read and watched a lot of programs on the issue. Most recently, a program on the History channel, in which they discussed the many different prophecies that all come up with the date 12-21-2012. They say it has to do with the winter solstice. Many native peoples and philosophers agree on this date, and many had no knowledge of the others... anyway, I agree that the way things are going is a recipe for some kind of global catastrophe, whenever in the future that could be. I do feel that it will happen in my lifetime. Oddly, that year marks 3 of my 4 children's "golden birthday" isn't that peculiar? Not that they have anything to do with eachother, of course, it is a big year for my family, in general.

I myself am a particularly religious person and I believe in the book of Revelation and the prophecies of what is to come in the Bible. What has been interpreted and prophecised has so far come true and looks like it will continue to come true. I am hopeful that the end will be near and yet it is still kind of scary to me. Our world has definitely taken a turn for the worse...increase in natural disasters, increase in crime/violence, increase in religious conflicts, increase in war and famine etc. I know not all of us are religious-but i personally have my faith that keeps me going through all the hardships that are presently with us today. If anyone is interested in the book of Revelation prophecy and the evidence that supports it through what is currently going on today, check out the website www.raptureready.com It's pretty interesting even if you are not a believer in God. It wouldn't hurt to take a peak! ---on a side note and in reference to your question elle, I do think that the Mayans were onto something with their intriguing knowledge of time and how the earth works. It'd be pretty interesting if they were right. I have definitely been hearing a lot about the december 21st, 2012 prophecy. Who knows!

Yes, Solace, I agree with you all the way. I believe in the book of Revelations, as well.... and it was included in the many other prophecies and it aligns with them. The Mayans and ancient Chinese cultures both had this date, as well as Oracles like "Merlin" and others.... Have you ever read 'Midnight Call? " It is similiar to The Rapture... My Grandma told me about it and they are online,as well. My Grandma has formally studied theology for a long time now and I listen very carefully to what she says about these tumultuous times... she believes many of the signs have come to pass and that we are indeed in the beginning of end times. As Spiritual people and Believers, we know this is not a time to fear, that is what the dark forces of the world want us to do, we must keep our heads on straight and gather all the knowledge to band together with other believers and help one another through this.
My faith in God has gotten me through a lot and it will get me through what is to come, as well. What can we do? My thought is to live a Good life, be the best we can be, treat each day as if it were our last and be kind and gentle to our fellow mankind. And always keep the communication through prayer to God open, as well as our hearts and minds. His energy flows through us and I often pray that he will direct me to where I am supposed to be and what I am supposed to be doing. & He does! This is a very different principal to the one currently being used--- war in the name of religion, Fear in the name of religion... Ideolgies forced upon people and nations in the name of religion..... these things are not OF God or religion at all.... but dark forces that have hijacked it and it's true ideals.
I'm really happy to know that my friends are aware that we have entered into a unique period in this earth's history andhow we deal with the tragedies that come will be a key to our surviving it or at least making it to the end with as little traumna as possible.

I've heard a ton of things about 2012 - including that endings often mark new beginnings.

Absolutely, 'Elle. By the way, my truck should be all paid off this December 12th of 2012. I hope I get to enjoy that for more than two weeks. Seriously, though, I think it portends change, rather than an end. Lord knows we need a paradigm shift in this world if most people are ever going to see a decent life.
