Has anyone made any New Year resolutions they would like to share?
Anything you would like to hope for the world in 2006?
Creative Goals for 2006?

Uhhh, yeah. I've decided to study Japanese in the new year. There are any number of sites on the Web that offer free lessons, complete with sound files to repeat. Believe it or not, some of the sentences I see are starting to make sense ... although it's devilishly difficult, not much like English at all. Inscrutable!
I don't think I'll study kanji ... they have incredibly ornate drawings, over 5000 and counting, each one represents a word, and each one can be drawn in different ways. A person could get lost in there forever.

"Anything you would like to hope for the world in 2006?"
I'd like to see a system where every child in every country gets access to a standard education, free of racial and religious biases. In my dream world, every child would learn at least roughly the same skill set.
S/he would be equipped with equivalent abilities, and have equivalent opportunities, and that would enable her/him to realize his/her potential. This might make a dent in the war on poverty.
I'd also like to see a genderless third-person pronoun for the English language, so we wouldn't have to repeat masculine and feminine all the time!!!

We HAVE a genderless pronoun... well, I THINK so.. at least I've never been able to tell the gender of "Cousin IT". ;D
Hmmmm... wishes for the world.. that people accept there are ways other than their own.. and instead of trying to "hold on to their culture/past" they embrace what's best from each, learn from each other, and become brothers under the skin.
Creatively... (these are more wishes that goals.. you have to DO something about goals.. lol).. finish off my MS150 story, get a few friends to look at it from an editing perspective and at least TRY to get it published. 2nd wish.. try to get at least one thing published SOMEWHERE this year.
Personally.. I need to move FORWARD in 2006.. I have NO idea what that means other than things NOT staying the way they are.
How bout you Elle.. any resolutions??

wow... guys, I'm not up to par!! LOL.... My goals: To Create, create, create... art in every way that I possibly can. I figure after baby gets here, having 2 under the age of 3 will keep me pretty busy (and give me even less time for my art and music) so, that's a biggie. I still intend to perform, though I left the scene for several months once I got into my last trimester with Noah, and of course for a bit once he was born. The band I was in then always worried I would have a baby during a gig...lol. So, there's that. Resolution(s): QUIT SMOKING!!! Being with child has already helped me cut way back, but I have to quit and quit for good. Oddly, I am a health nut and this awful habit is a thorn to my goals in that area. It's harder to swim, run, etc... when you fill your lungs with crap. Anyway, any help in that area from you all? Goals for the world: similiar to Ken's, I'd say. I am persoanlly disgusted with people's intolerance of the unfamiliar. I am French, and these recent years have seen some very sad changes there. cousin had to move from Rue Rivotte to a place more outside the city because of the violence and clash of culture between the Christians, Muslims and Blacks there. So, tolerance worldwide would certainly help many of the disputes. I am also praying for the people of Niger, there are some scary things going on there, the country has been purchased by world super powers that have borne down a "racial cleansing" that sickens me. I am also politically motivated, I am embarrassed of the so-called leadership in this country currently, I am fed up with beaurocracy, the lack of integrity and the lack of real direction the US has taken since GW got there. We have so many issues unrelated to terrorism here.... the trade deficit with China, for starters. The insurance-based health system, another. I am so angry, I could spit about all of it, but the only I have is my voice and my art, and I intend on using it to fight these injustices. I am tired of our country's officials being corrupt and being for sale. Oh, lord! P.O.S.... see what you've done? LOL.... Okay, there's much more, I'll stop and take a breather someone else to jump in

LOL... I came back to continue my rant with Darfur and Sudan... Ugana, Chad.. these Govts. need to be held responsible for the great autraucities going on, and the U.S. for that matter. and the hypocrisy of the blind eye turned towards China and Saudi Arabia in terms of human rights and world policy.... and this crap that Bush has had anything to do with a Middle East peace policy between Palestine and Isarael is something else... it's not even there yet and I see the admin. touting success.. like they had anything at all to do with it.? hilarious for a pro-everything Israel policy to claim. For my own part, I have added my name to every petition that has come my way to voice my opposition to the war in Iraq and more recently, to fight Global poverty and the AIDS epidemic. @ One.org I write, I pray and I rant in places like this to pother people that care... you don't have to agree with my views, but I definitely encourage every one to become more involved in the issues they care most about.... we all have a voice, we just have to use it!
ranter exits stage left...... [end rant]
