The Fringe Kid...
I remember a day when I was very little, Three or four maybe, Summer at dusk, Beautiful evening, Noni and Nono out on lawn chairs, Me chasing fireflies, A Lightning Bug Sleuth.
I distinctly remember four colors of them, Red and blue and yellow and green.
For some reason in years after, I only ever saw yellowish-green lightning bugs, Ever.
I wondered what became of them, Then I put it out of my mind, "A fluke of childhood brain development," One of those little miracles left behind as you grow.
For some reason lightning bugs came into a conversation the other day, Another couple at dinner, She an artist and photographer, He an engineer, Me talking colors and thinking I'd be thought crazy.
"I remember those!"
Of course it was the artist speaking, And it was then that I understood we'd come from an alternate universe.

Author's note: Entirely true story, every word...excepting I don't know about the alternate universe, or what happened to the other colors of lightning bug.
