Greetings to everyone! My name is David, and this is my first day with the group. I've read some of your work already, and there are some talented people in here.

I've spent most of my career in journalism and publishing. I have a novel in the works and have just recently begun to dabble in poetry (haiku and free verse). Any suggestions, reviews, crits and compliments will all be greatly appreciated. I'll do my best to return the favors.

Thanks so much for the kind greeting, Elle. Sorry I haven't been active so far, but I'm just getting over a bout with the flu..haven't felt very "writerly" lately.

I'm up and about now, so I hope to post a few haiku (first attempt at the genre and probably formulaic), but you gotta jump in sometime, right? I'll also try and find some time to read a bit of the other works.

What types of things do you write about in your journalism?

Feeling much better, Elle, thank you! It's amazing what a couple of injections and strong prescription medicines can do

As for my journalism, I mainly wrote education and feature pieces. I won a couple of Tennessee Press Association awards for feature writing and photography. I did some sports writing, too.

I've been working at the Verizon Wireless regional center near Nashville, Tennessee, for a while now, so the journalism is pretty much a thing of the past. I concentrate on my own stuff now, that and finishing a masters degree in English.
