your eyes shone blue and sparkled smiles lingered on your lips bells tinkled when you laughed you made all around you happy
then you fell into the pit many of us tried to help you you chose not to grasp our hands reaching down to pull you out
so many loved and wanted you were you frightened by our need afraid of being swallowed up by the lonely hungry hordes
time has taken what we had friends forget as memories fade love has given way to loathing desire dwindled down to scorn
we won't be your fool again

Wow, Ken - this sounds like a long, hard, lonely road, whether you're the one walking it or one of the ones following.

A tribute to a friend who was hurt and retired to her old hermit ways.

It takes a lot of energy for an introvert to interact with the world.. but in the end it's worth it. Maybe the Lyrics of the Lee Ann Womack song would help her... "I hope you dance" I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance Never settle for the path of least resistance Living might mean taking chances but they're worth taking Lovin' might be a mistake but it's worth making Don't let some hell bent heart leave you bitter When you come close to selling out Reconsider Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance ..and when you get the chance to sit it out or dance I hope you dance.. Love might be a mistake, but it's worth making ...just part of the song, but it's the way I choose to live my life... www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/l/lee_ann_womack/i_hope_you_dance.html

Nice sentiments, Poet. It hurts when a friend turns away. It's like a pretty flower closing up and refusing to bloom again, even when the sun is warm and welcoming day after day. Especially when all attempts to reconcile are rebuffed.....

I know that feeling Ken.. Too well... And yet, in my unguarded moments, it's still the bloom I remember.

Profound hurt felt here... hurt on behalf of the subject... understand this & feel the concern in your language.
