What an odd thing... pregnancy seems to have temporarily blinded my muse! I'm not sure if it is the overwhelming scope of the process of giving life, but I am scattered, unfocused and unable to be my creative self right now. At least in my conventional ways. Any suggestions, ideas, discussion? Anyone else been through this?

I don't think it's your pregnancy. I'm not pregnant and I haven't written a damn thing (except work-related stuff) in months.

Elle, Miranda: I know what you’re going through, guys. I go through long periods where I end up writing the same thing over and over again. It usually happens when one’s priorities change, the muse gets neglected and starts sulking. It’s damn hard to persuade her to come back out of her shell and be nice to you once more … you know how fickle those gals can be sometimes! When you can’t write yourself, try reading other person’s poetry … and I don't necessarily mean the mediocre stuff we find on the internet. Last month I found on my shelf an old book entitled "The Collected Works of Alfred Lord Tennyson", and it is really eye-opening to read how clever he was at painting word pictures. One of the poems I found in it was the Lady of Chalott, which just jumps off the page with romantic scenery. So don’t force it, just relax. Check out some of the old stuff by the 19th century masters, and let it sink into your psyche. Your muse will enjoy it too, and maybe she will be persuaded to whisper in your ear. Ken

MANDERS!!! You've been in hiding along with your muse....... lol... and you have been missed, my lovely, cherished friend. Don't go away again for so long! Great advice, Ken... I have been reading a lot of everything lately, has helped me some. I love coming here to read what is inspiring others, that also helps. Just being around creative people like you all helps me, too. I'm coming out of it.... just afraid that by the time I really do, I'll be knee-deep in pooh- poo and pampers LOL (and loving every minute of it
