I am a poor misguided soul clinging to delusion refusing to relinquish hope succumbing to confusion.
Ego refuses to accept remotest possibility someone I loved as a friend left me for eternity.
I tell myself get over it. People change and life goes on. Memories are all we make that last. Cherish the time we were as one.
There was no way we could go on. The walls grew high and slick with rain. Still I won't betray my dream those sunny days will come again.

Love is a river and we're blessed to have a drop to drink, but you can't hold it in your hands and you have to pee sometime. With any luck, you get to swim in the Summer, the river won't dry up, and the plants will grow. Seriously, though, the memories are treasures, especially if you make a conscious choice to keep the good ones and let the rest fall on the floor. It makes for a richer life. I hope things get good again for you, but if not...
