To tell you the truth, I haven't watched much of it. I do definately know who Simon is and that he is an ass... lol. I think it is one of the few reality series that has real potential and entertainment value, though.
I'd like to see a guy win, from what I saw of past seasons.

Simon may be an ass, but he is an honest critic.
I don't like the show or the concept much. Many singers and groups work for years, traveling on their own money (poor most of the time) to get a contract and many never do.
The Smashing Pumpkins started out performing with a drum machine due to lack of a drummer. They played self-arranged gigs for 7 years, I believe, and didn't get the recognition they deserved until their SECOND major label release in '93. THEY deserve to go down in rock history.
These contestants have done nothing but sing other writer's material. So what...if you have a pretty face you can enter the contest? I would have a bit of respect for the show if one overweight or ugly person sang and won.

I wish they had a show that was truly based on talent... but that probably wouldn't be entertaining enough for the masses, huh? lol Which explains why underground music rocks !  I watched bits of the first season, but lost interest when it seemed like they wanted the Britney Spears types and not any real talent. |

That's exactly why I root for Ruben on this season's show. He's built like my Andy, morbidly obese. Plus I root for Ruben because he has the best voice of the contestants.

It's on Tuesday nights.
Last Tuesday the theme was Movie Songs so Ruben performed "A Whole New World" from Aladdin. The week before the theme was Motown so he sang "Baby, I Need Your Lovin'" originally done by the Four Tops. On one of the audition shows he performed "Superstar", my all-time favorite Carpenters song, though Ruben's voice has a Luther Vandrose vibe so he stayed very close to the Luther version of "Superstar" but it was wonderful!
My other favorite on the show is Kimberly Caldwell. She is good-looking but I like her voice too. She's got some power and rocks things out a bit.
The chick I absolutely do not like on this show is Julia. She's a hottie, easily the best-looking in the bunch, but her voice and stage presence are weak, and her attitude is so snooty! It was obvious earlier in the season she thought she had everything in the bag because she could shake her butt and flash her boobies without having to sing well. She's finding out differently now though; she has consistently gotten fewer votes than the more talented but less comely contestants lately. I'm happy to see that.
