This seems like an appropriate place for this. If not, I'll move it.
What discs are you guys digging right now? Anything new coming out you're excited to pick up? Is there an obscure band you want the world to know about? LET ME KNOW! I'm always up for checking out new things.
Here's what's getting spun constantly in my player lately.....
"Bellybutton" and "Spilt Milk" both by Jellyfish....Mix The Beatles, Queen, clever and poetic lyrics, intricate production, pop sensibilities and you get Jellyfish. These are their only two releases and they broke up a long time ago (while I was in my rainy Seattle phase) so I didn't discover them until recently. I am now a RABID fan. Both CD's are phenominal but I like "Spilt Milk" more; IMO it's one of the best CD's of all time. THEIR LYRICS ARE AMAZING...if you get any Jellyfish PAY ATTENTION TO THE LYRICS.
"Out Of Range" by Ani DiFranco...Ani is a new inspiration for me. Corporate Radio controls Fort Wayne radio so I had to buy this disc without having heard her at all (though many many friends said I would love her). Very powerful honest lyrics. She is a great guitar player too. And she's got more artistic integrity in one strand of her hair than all those teeny bopper bands have put together.
"Falling Into Infinity" by Dream Theater.....Progressive rock in the Rush or Queensryche vein. DEAD ON MUSICIANSHIP. Very epic songs.
"Wait For Me" by Susan Tedeschi....Oh the PIPES this lady's got! Very reminescent of early Bonnie Raitt. This is guitar-driven blues rock. Remember when Christina Aguilera (who I will admit has a great voice and range) won Best New Artist at the Grammys a couple years ago? Susan Tedeschi was also nominated; Susan got ROBBED.
As I get more stuff I'll post it on here. Can't wait to see what you guys are jamming to!

Omg!! Yes, awesome topic and appropriate place to put it! Ani Difranco ROCKS!! To the Teeth is my fave of hers... we are doing "Soft Shoulder" for the upcoming contest.. I love that song. I met Susan Tedesci a few years ago!!! She is so little and so cool!! and man alive can that lady sing! She reminds more of Janis than anyone, I just love her voice, so bluesy and jammin' she rocks!! I am going to check out jellyfish! They sound super cool. Some of my other faves are STEVIE NICKS, Natalie Merchant, Sarah McClachlan, Enya, Lorenna McKennit, Janis Joplin, Mama Cass, Counting Crows, The Doors, Sheryl Crow, Ella Fitzgerald, John Coltrane(Giant Steps is my fave), Woody Gutherie, Muddy Waters, the Stones, Billi Holiday (I love the verve stuff by Billi and Ella), Van Morrison, gosh.. this is a subject I could expound upon and never stop...lol Shawn Colvin is another that I adore-- what a voice!!! (check out her song "Shotgun down the avalanche") I'll stop for now, but there are so many I am forgetting! lol. I am a music lover, all music, all kinds of music (as long as it's good!) You mentioned so many great ones, too... I plan on checking out the ones you mentioned that I am not familiar with! Speaking of music related stuff, later on I will post a bunch of links that are awesome resources for guitar tabs and piano/etc. sheet music online. Also for lyrics and other music stuff. I have a ton of that kind of stuff and obviously we have some players here that will enjoy that stuff!

Andy took me shopping last night so I added some discs to my collection. I picked up Ani DiFranco's "Evolve" and "Not A Pretty Girl". Both are kick ass! The title cut of "Not A Pretty Girl" made me weep like a baby; I don't know why....it just did. Probably the lyrics. And to show you how absolutely positively OBSESSED I am with Jellyfish right now....I found out a place called Not Lame Music in Canada put out a four disc box set of Jellyfish demos and live stuff called Fan Club a few years back. I got the last copy they had. Nah! Nah! Isn't that nutso of me? I bought a four disc box set for a band that ONLY PUT OUT TWO DISCS IN THEIR CAREER! I must be a rabid fan. Wait...I KNOW I'm a rabid fan. Tee hee hee. And I don't have an ounce of buyer's remorse...nope, nope, nope....not when it comes to Jellyfish. What are you guys listening to now? Miranda
