Lost Prophets
Too many Great ones lost to the devil's tricks, discounting their worthiness, being tough, taking their licks. I'll tell you what I know, their value more than they could've known, if they could've peered out of that hole, they'd have escaped a death so painful and slow....
I wish they could have seen what others saw in them, the preciousness of life, how we all begin again. Satan, he's a Master, he knows what we suffer from, he uses it all against us, our fear of being unloved.
The number 27, it's come and gone for me but for too many of my Prophets, it is their number eternally... I'll never understand how those that had so much to give allowed those demons the upper hand...
in his craftiness, he knew that by stealing Those souls he'd make impact on many the heart-of-man.
Their powerful voices silenced now, their poetry, so full of thought we all lose in the end, for they'll never sing again.

I'm listening to one right now, stolen away too early. I wonder what it is, is it us and the power we demand of them burning them out, or does all the attention they need burn them up when we all finally give it? Maybe they just wanted to be youthful for eternity. Whatever it is, it seems that many of those who shine the brightest are gone far, far too soon. This was brilliantly phrased, 'Elle.

This has been burningin my mind for a few days.. My Dad got me the alice-in-chains dvd & cd for Christmas... Lein, the awesomely talented singer, dies of heroin overdose at age 27... like so many others... Janis, Jimi... Jim Morrison. Amazingly gifted artists... I believe that devil knows our weaknesses.. he put doubt in them, doubt of their talents, insecurities.. that made them turn to drugs to escape themselves... Fame itself is a wild animal and I believe one of the Devil's most clever tricks! And as I watched Lein singing, all I could do is cry.. cry for him and all of the others lost in that hole of heroin and lost from us forever. He had one of the most amazing voices ever. If you get the chance, check out alice-in-chains or another band he was in with member of Pearl Jam called Mad Season. If you search on youtube. you'll find them and some of their performances. I'm currently working on the song nutshell by alice-in-chains.

No different with Elvis - it was drugs and he did it to himself, the difference being they were prescrition and there was an unscrupulous doctor getting paid to do it.

So many of the GREAT ones.. the ones that really had something to give and SAY... Elvis for sure, though I don't think he was 27.. I tried to stay with that 27 becuz it's just tragic... but yes, so many lost at such a young age and lost all too soon. Wouldn't it be something to have a conversationw ith him now and ask what the hell he was drowning in? What made him so insecure? How is that possible? He was the King! Thanks for reading, Dan.

I think it all came too easy for them ... the money, the adulation, the plastic people, groupies ... they were rich, could have anything they wanted ... well, maybe not love. Anyway, when you can have what you want whenever you feel like it, it's not a treat anymore, and nothing seems to be worth it anymore. Even paradise can become a drag if that's all there is.
"If that's all there is, my friend, let's break out the booze...."
