Alone:
you sigh with hesitation
as you lean in to embrace me one last time
you softly kiss my forehead
and whisper "I'll see you around."
i pull back and look up at you
with my baby blues brimming with tears
i manage a half-assed smile
and slowly turn to walk away from you.
things are different now.
i hate it.
i see you around, just like you said.
you nod your head in acknowledgment of my presence,
give a little wave and that's that.
sometimes i see you, but you dont see me
i stare at you from afar wondering how you are
i watch you walk to class with your headphones in and music turned up
you look different now.

but that's what you had wanted that night 5 months ago,
to be alone...and without me.
well, you got what you wanted,
you're alone,
and so am i.
